On Monday, November 11th, a contingent of your fellow Sun Country Corvette Club members participated in the Phoenix Veteran's Day Parade. We started off the day by meeting up for breakfast at the First Watch Restaurant in Phoenix. Their policy is no reservations so I'm sure that they were somewhat surprised by our arrival. We parked 18 cars in their parking lot and then walked in with almost 25 people. I think the wait staff and all of the other employees did a terrific job handling our unexpected group. I spoke to the manager and complimented all of his employees on the job they did - true assets. The drive from the restaurant to the staging area went about as good as it could. A large caravan (18 cars) with plenty of traffic lights through a beautiful section of Phoenix and we made it in one piece. After staging there was a lot of waiting around for the parade to actually start - everyone showed a great deal of patience. I found the parade itself to be very satisfying. There were so many people cheering us and America throughout the entire route. We SCCC put on quite a show ourselves. We had 19 Corvettes, America's true sportscar. As always I was thrilled to see the number of kids in attendance as well as all of the Veteran's. If you go on You tube channel and you can watch the parade (2024 Phoenix Veteran's Day Parade). Our segment of the parade is at (1:41:00 approximately). I am sure that each one of the participants had a different experience today. At one point a parent hollered out "she has a present for you" and pointed out a young girl. I stopped and she ran over and gave a me drawing she had made. It was a flag and the words Happy Veteran's Day printed on it. I was a spontaneous selection made by this young girl and to be truthful it brought tears to my eyes. I hope that all who joined in enjoyed the parade and I want to thank them for participating. Once again Sun Country Corvette Club is the greatest.
